Senior Mine Surveyor

  • Roster: 5 days on 2 days off, 4 days on 3 days off

The Savage River magnetite iron ore mine is a technically challenging long-life mining asset where ore is mined and processed before it is transported by pipeline to the pellet plant and ship loading facility at Port Latta.

We are seeking a motivated Senior Mine Surveyor to build, lead, and develop our small Site Surveying Team and processes.

In this role, you will utilise your skills and experience to coordinate, plan and manage all survey activities on and off-site whilst having the flexibility to actively develop our surveying capability and process during a period of business growth.

The role works within our Mine Technical Services department and, would be most suited to a professional who is seeking the ability to shape a small and growing team and process that supports our mine planning and operations team to deliver safe and efficient delivery of our business values and goals.

Responsibilities in this role will include but not limited to:

  • Providing leadership for safe and efficient survey outcomes supporting mine planning and operations functions,
  • Working closely with Mine Planning team, ensuring all mine planning outcomes are delivered to design with variances reported and, assisting with amending actions as required,
  • Coordinating with grade control and drill and blast staff on drill layouts and sampling
  • Completing end of month pickups, stockpile volume calculations, reports and reconciliations across multiple sites and other business reporting requirements,
  • Maintaining an accurate survey control network and modelled survey data.
  • Conducting topographic survey using drones, GIS for the pit, waste dump and ore stockpile,
  • Coordinating Project work through innovative practice to optimise efficiencies,
  • Maintaining and implementing a safe system of work.

We anticipate your Skills, Knowledge, and Experience will include:

  • Mine Surveying Diploma or desire to achieve one and/or at least 7 years’ experience in open pit mining environment.
  • Experience in Underground mining environment would be advantageous
  • A self-motivated person who enjoys leading and working with an agile and focussed team.
  • Understanding of Geovia Surpac software and Maptek I-Site studio or similar mining software
  • Sound knowledge of Trimble total stations, GPS Rovers and Maptek I-Site Laser Scanners
  • Current manual drivers’ licence
