Grange Resources is Australia's most experienced magnetite producer from its iron ore mining and pellet production business located in North-West Tasmania.

The Savage River magnetite iron ore mine is a long-life mining asset where ore is mined and processed before it is transported by pipeline to the pellet plant and ship loading facility at Port Latta.

An exciting opportunity for an Environmental Officer to join our HSE team. Reporting to the Principal Environmental Officer, you will be responsible for providing environmental support to the operations in line with the company's environmental management plans, licence conditions and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing input into the ongoing development and implementation of the site's Environmental Management System
  • Leading and mentoring Environment Graduates and Technicians
  • Conducting training, awareness and site inspections  
  • Liaising with operational personnel to develop better environmental practices on site and continuously improve environmental performance across the operations
  • Developing and providing regular reports and updates on environmental performance and expectations in consultation with internal and external stakeholders
  • Compliance reporting, including NPI, NGERS, Safeguard Mechanism and RET Exemption Certificate applications

To be successful in this role, you will require the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering or Science or a related discipline
  • 2 – 5 years of environmental management experience
  • Mining industry experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of AMD principles, environmental legislation, guidelines and environmental management issues
  • Experience with Environmental Management Systems
  • Project management skills
  • Attention to detail along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and manage multiple stakeholders 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to establish and maintain effective communication channels 
  • Advanced computer literacy
  • A current full manual driver's licence 

The following would be desirable but not essential:

  • Knowledge of chemistry, water chemistry, and GIS systems would be an advantage.
